In reply to Phyllis Hempy. Are you talking about the asparagus garden? The only way you can do it is to get in there after a good rain (or watering) and systematically pull the weeds manually. Once you did that, add some mulch and stay on top of the weeding. Sorry, but I don't have a better/easier method.

We spread salt over or asparagus To keep the weeds down and it doesn’t hurt the asparagus. We were told some time ago that salt was good for asparagus and we tried it.

I and my now deceased father have been harvesting asparagus from the same patch for well over 70 years now and it still taste great.

Your picture shows the PURPLE asparagus but your article doesn’t mention them. TRY THEM!! They are sweeter than the green ones and wonderful to eat raw right out of the garden!
