Also left out were Lenten Roses, which bloom (as the name suggests) around Lent and the blooms last a long time. Once established, they will reseed profusely. Deer avoid these entirely!

In reply to Edith. @Edith, yes, deer will eat anything if hungry enough. I too have a tall (8feet) fence for my vegetable garden.

In reply to Linda. I have found deer will eat anything if they are hungry enough. My peonies are great in the spring and summer, but come fall the deer eat all the leaves off. same with my iris. To protect my beautiful garden I have a 9 ft double deer fence. My flowers inside the fence are gorgeous. Outside the fence, as above. NW Montana. Huge deer population.

I am surprised peonies didn’t make your list. I live in deer country and they never touch my peonies.
